Secret Pal 8 Questionnaire
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I'm primarily a wool/natural fiber person. I'm not fond of most acrylics. And I have to be careful with most cotton as it can hurt my hands. I adore sock yarns and lace weights
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
An antique silverware chest from my maternal grandmother (And in over 50 UFOs)
3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
Avidly since 1991, I consider myself Advanced.
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Nope.
5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
Lilac and Lily of the Valley.
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?
Sure do. Love good quality, dark chocolate covered orange peel, but I’ll try anything except white chocolate.
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?
You name it, I do it. Primarily I knit, weave, bead, spin and work with precious metal clay. But I also do origami, cooking, and most other forms of needlework like crochet, cross stitch, etc.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I’m very eclectic, but I like new age a lot. My computer/car/mobile sound device can play pretty much anything
9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
Purple. Followed closely by teals, greens, and blues. I don’t do browns/autumn colors.
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
Long term live-in SO, and two cats (Just lost one, might get another sometime soon)
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
Sure. More scarves than the others.
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Sock. Hands (Or rather feets) down. :-)
13. What are you knitting right now?
Primarily the never ending Christening gown for my new nephew. And other goodies for him. Also socks. Some sweaters for me. Didn’t I say I had over 50 UFO’s?
14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?
Yup.
15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Addi Turbo circulars, followed by Denise. But I already have 3 sets of those. (See UFO count above)
16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?
Several of both.
17. How did you learn to knit?
Last time was when I got stubborn and a friend showed me continental. It finally stuck.
18. How old is your oldest UFO?
Older than my oldest cat and she’s over 19.
19. What is your favorite holiday?
None in particular.
20. Is there anything that you collect?
Stoneware pottery
21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I keep pretty much on top of new books and patterns, so I don’t really have a waiting list. Though I’d love to know when Myrna Stahlman’s Variations is due out!!!
I have subscriptions to Knitters & Interweave Knits.
22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?
Dying yarns, I’ll be taking a class on the 11th of May, I hope. (Last one was cancelled)
23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?
Big time. 8 ½ size shoe, ankle – 11, foot circ – 9 ½, top of sock to heel bottom – 7, length – 9
